Following the poor showing at the 2013 general election, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak slammed Selangor Umno for misleading him into believing there was a reasonable chance for the party to reclaim the state.

Commenting on this, Selangor Umno liaison chief Noh Omar blamed the party's indulgence in showing that they indeed enjoyed strong support.

This led the prime minister into believing they had a fair chance to recapture the state, he lamented.

"Yes, the deception was due to Umno’s culture in organising mega events where strong crowd of 10,000 attended.

"But when we checked, they are the same group of people (who attended different events at different times)...
