The gap between Harapan rhetoric and reality
COMMENT A more accurate index of how newly-formed opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan is doing, is not in its constituents' readiness to endorse the platitudes of general agreement - such as they did on Jan 9 - but in their willingness to adhere to the more telling, if prosaic, details of intra-coalition cooperation.
The fact that DAP member Abdul Aziz Bari - a nominee of the party for seats on the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (AJMC) - was not included in the list that would be sworn in today, says a lot about the state of internal relations within Harapan.
DAP had previously named Aziz in a list of six candidates that the party was entitled to nominate as AJMC members.
When the entire list of members for the new term was announced yesterday, his name had not been included and DAP wound up with five members, one short of their quota.
