Participants of the anti-bauxite mining Red2Green walk encountered an injured motorcyclist along the Jalan Gombak-Bentong route yesterday.

According to Red2Green participant Tommy Lee, it was around 2pm when the walkers aw a male rider lying on the ground, beside a collapsed motorcycle.

The pillion rider had run towards them, yelling for help.

“We rushed towards the injured motorcyclist and there was a lot of blood (trickling down his face and neck)

“The medical team that was accompanying us (the Red2Green participants) proceeded to help him,” said Lee.

Lee added that the medical team discovered a deep gash on the head of the motorcyclist, who was still conscious.

While the medical team treated the injured man, Lee and the rest of the Red2Green participants used their umbrellas and banners to shade the wounded man from the blazing sun.

The injured man, who identified himself as Ito, said his motorcycle collapsed when they passed a speeding car on the opposite side of the road.

His pillion rider was unharmed.

The ambulance van that accompanied the Red2Green group was later used to transport the injured motorcyclist to the Orang Asli Hospital in Gombak, a few kilometres away from the scene of the crash.

Yesterday marked the 13th day of the Red2Green group’s journey from Kuantan to Parliament House in Kuala Lumpur.

The roughly 30 participants from Kuantan started their long trek to to help highlight the issue of pollution which resulted from the recent bauxite mining rush in Pahang.
