Pandikar to decide if Rafizi's arrest puts IGP in contempt

PARLIAMENT Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia will decide tomorrow if the arrest of Rafizi Ramli (PKR-Pandan) just outside Parliament gates, is in contempt of the House.

Johari Abdul (PKR-Sungai Petani), who is PKR whip, brought the matter to the House's attention and requested a ruling from the speaker.

He cited a resolution traditionally tabled at the start of parliament sittings, which stated the inspector-general of police should ensure the smoothness of traffic heading toward Parliament.

"An instruction has been given to the IGP so that the MPs progress to and leave Parliament (without any hindrance).

"My question is if (the IGP) has breached the speaker's instruction," he said in Parliament.
