The planned debate between BN strategic communications director Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is a waste of time, said Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz.

According to him, it is more important to let the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) complete its probe on the bungalow and Taman Manggis land issues.

"Now we wait for MACC's decision. That's more important than wasting time debating, especially since investigations are still ongoing.

"If (Guan Eng is) not guilty, what's the use of a debate? Even if he's guilty, what's the point? Waste of time. I'm sorry but I think both of them should stop and let MACC continue investigating," he added.

Besides Nazri, the MACC special comittee on corruption has also called for the debate on the controversial Taman Manggis land to be cancelled.

However both Lim and Rahman are adamant about pursuing the showdown.

The two have been locking horns, almost on a daily basis through the media, since news of the chief minister purchasing a bungalow at below market price surfaced.

The debate then shifted to the Taman Manggis land.

The contention here is over the alleged sale of KLIDC, which has bought the state land in Taman Manggis.

The minister alleged that the company has changed hands while the chief minister argued that this was not true.
