An inspector and a corporal based at the police narcotics branch in Kota Kinabalu have been remanded for four days beginning today on suspicion of receiving bribes amounting to RM9,800.

The policemen, aged 31 and 37, were detained at the office of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in Kota Kinabalu on April 12 at 11.50pm.

They allegedly received the money as an inducement not to take action against a drug abuse suspect.

MACC Sabah director Shaharom Nizam Abd Manap confirmed the detention of the duo.

The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
