PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has declared he is prepared to be jailed for releasing classified documents linked to state-owned fund 1MDB and was quick to add that many others will join him behind the bars.

Rafizi vowed to "drag along" all individuals who have allegedly been protecting Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak from being held accountable for the massive loss of public funds involving troubled sovereign wealth fund 1MDB.

"I am definitely going in... I have no problem with that. I am fully prepared to go in.

"But I am not going in alone. If I have to go, I will make sure to drag everyone involved...," said the Pandan MP who last week claimed trial to two charges under the Official Secrets Act (OSA).

Based on findings of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report on 1MDB, Rafizi told a Pakatan Harapan forum in Shah Alam last night that 1MDB president Arul Kanda Kandasamy could be charged with obstruction of justice.

‎He said Arul Kanda would have known the issues afflicting 1MDB since he is the company's CEO during its latest audit process.

"This is my direct message: some people are very clearly named in the PAC report. Soon, we are going to issue a ‘citizens’ wanted list’.

"If you can't get the guy at the top, you go after the guys protecting him," he said, adding that 1MDB's board of directors can be charged with criminal breach of trust for conspiring and failing to report an alleged crime.

Rafizi also said that 1MDB's former CEO Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi ( photo ) should now decide whether he wants to take the fall for the alleged crime or save himself.

"Shahrol, you decide... Najib wants to make you the scapegoat. You want to be the scapegoat or save your skin?

"All board members, each one of you, we will make sure the public hound you until you come forward and say something," he warned.

‎Rafizi said that he would also push for reports to be lodged across the globe against the people who were involved in 1MDB.

"We have 87 opposition MPs. It's not fair that I'm alone to be put behind bars. Lodge reports in other countries not only against Najib but on all those who are involved," he said.

Several foreign authorities including the United States, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Singapore and Hong Kong are currently investigating allegations linked to Najib and 1MDB.

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar has also confirmed that the police have formed a special team to investigate the findings of the PAC report.
