“This is not a new probe, we are just continuing the investigation,” he told reporters in Bukit Aman this morning.
The police chief was responding to a question on how long would it take for the police to wrap up investigations.
On the same note, Khalid said police must be given the space to complete their investigations.
“Let us investigate first. When investigations are completed, we will bring (submit the findings) to the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
“But we will not publicise the investigation process; what we are doing today or tomorrow will not be disclosed,” he added.
However, Khalid vowed that police would conduct a detailed probe based on the reports by the auditor-general and Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
1MDB, the allegation-riddled brainchild of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, is also the subject of international investigations.
Countries probing the firm are Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Luxembourg, Singapore and Hong Kong.
1MDB has often accused its detractors of targeting the firm based on a political motive with the intention of toppling the prime minister.
