Controversial blogger Papagomo was deported on arrival in Sarawak today.

Papagomo, whose real name is Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, was denied entry at Kuching International Airport.

Wan Muhammad Azri, who is also Wangsa Maju Umno committee member, arrived in Kuching on AirAsia Flight AK8672 from Kuala Lumpur just before 2pm.

According to the notice of refusal of entry sighted by Malaysiakini , Wan Muhammad Azri was barred based on Section 65(1)(a) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

"The state authority has directed that no pass be issued to you to enter the State of Sarawak and such pass is required under Section 66 for you to enter the state," it said.

He joins a long list of politicians and activists to have been barred from Sarawak ahead of the May 7 state election.

Almost 20 opposition elected representatives have been barred from the state.

Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem said the ban is to maintain the state's harmony and it applies to both sides of the political divide.

Apart from Wan Muhammad Azri, another figure from the ruling coalition who has been barred is Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos .

However, to date, no elected representative from the ruling coalition has been barred from Sarawak.
