The wife battery case involving prominent businessman SM Faizal SM Nasimuddin has been fixed for re-mention on Aug 2 at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court.

The date was set by magistrate Erry Shahriman Nor Aripin today.

SM Faizal, 37, who is executive chairperson of Naza World Group of Companies, is the eldest son of automobile conglomerate's founder, the late SM Nasimuddin.

He was charged with assaulting his wife Emilia Hanafi on Nov 22, 2015 at their home in Desa Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur.

The couple were married at the time of the incident, but divorced last March.

SM Faizal was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code and faces up to two years in jail or no more than RM4,000 fine or both, if convicted.

He was represented by lawyer Akbardeen Abdul Kadir.
