Khairul Idham Pawi caps second MotoGP title despite wet conditions

Malaysian Moto3 rider Khairul Idham Pawi proved that his win at the Grand Prix of Argentina in April was not a flash in the pan by winning the German Moto3 Grand Prix in Sachsenring, Germany, today.

The 17-year-old rider (known as Super KIP) excelled in wet conditions, just like in Argentina, to cap a brilliant second Moto3 title of the season despite starting at the 20th spot on the grid.

The Kampung Gajah, Perak-born Honda rider set a time of 47 minutes 07.763 seconds to beat Italian rider Andrea Locatelli from Leopard Racing and Enea Bastianini from Gresini Racing Moto3.

"I would like to say 'syukur alhamdulillah' and many thanks to my team because always worked hard for me. It is a little bit difficult and there was full of drama (during the race).

"I pushed a little bit and then felt that I had to cool down and managed the time. I hope my family, my friends and my fans enjoyed it (the win)," he said.

Khairul is now 10th in the Moto3 overall standings behind South African leader Brad Binder who finished in eighth spot today.
