The Malaysian-Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) has obtained a seven-day remand order on the chairperson of a government-linked bank.

The remand order against the 'Tan Sri' was issued by the Magistrate's Court in Putrajaya today.

Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Abd Rahman allowed the 65-year-old Tan Sri to be remanded while four others were released on bail.

Among those released on bail included the bank's managing director, who is a 'Datuk'.

He was detained by the authorities since his arrest on Aug 25. It was also reported that the MACC also seized six expensive watches.

The Tan Sri arrived at 8.45am at the Putrajaya court complex for the remand order.

Those picked up in connection to the MACC's investigations on the bank are for an alleged offence under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009, for using the office or position for gratification.

It is understood the remand is in relation to the RM15 million payout to a publishing firm for the production of a book concerning a national leader, believed to be Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

However, the book was allegedly not published.

Petronas probe

Meanwhile, the same Magistrate's Court today also extended the remand of six people for another four days in relation to the MACC's probe on Petronas.

Two others who were remanded on Friday over the same case were released today on bail.

Another man was also remanded today for five days to assist the MACC's probe on Petronas.

The investigation on Petronas is related to a RM76 million piping contract that was awarded down south.
