Company MD freed after remand over MACC probe

The Magistrate’s Court in Putrajaya today freed the managing director of a publishing company after he had completed a 12-day remand over an investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman freed the 40-year-old executive after the MACC did not seek an extension of the remand.

The remand was for seven days from Aug 28 and was extended by five days to today in relation to an MACC probe into misuse of funds totalling almost RM15 million with regard to a book publishing project.

An MACC spokesperson said the managing director was released on an MACC bond.
