Bersih is in discussion with its legal team as to the accusation that the electoral reform movement is sponsored by American business magnate George Soros.

A document purportedly originating from international grant-making network Open Society Foundation (OSF) has alleged that its founder, Soros, has a "personal interest" in the Malaysian elections.

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also home minister, has ordered the claim that Bersih, Merdeka Center and Malaysiakini are being funded by Soros to be investigated.
