Rafizi Ramli has urged the PKR Ampang division Youth chief to declare his assets in order to put an end to the controversy surrounding his bungalow and luxury cars.

"The faster Adam Rosly declares his assets, it would be easier. Because the moment you have nothing to hide and everything is transparent, then it stops there

"Otherwise Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos will continue to ride helicopters and it’s a red herring," the PKR vice-president told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

Rafizi said this was because the controversy diverted attention from the 1MDB issue.

He added that PKR does not have the power to compel Adam to declare his assets, but that it would be the best way to clear the air.

However, the Pandan lawmaker said, Jamal, elected representatives and those who held top positions in government should also declare their assets.

Yesterday, Jamal took journalists on a helicopter ride for an aerial view of the bungalow in Ampang.

He questioned how the 28-year-old youth managed to amass such wealth.

Adam had said that him being rich was not an issue, and that many other Malay youths were also wealthy.

He explained the bungalow at Kampung Melayu Ampang was actually an abandoned property that he had purchased at an auction, for about RM1 million.

PKR's Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin also defended Adam, saying that both he and his father were businessmen.

She clarified today that Adam had a furniture business, which was a subsidiary of his father's business.

However, Zuraida was unsure of the company's name.

She also rubbished the controversy surrounding the bungalow.

"It was bought under a bank loan... It's not an issue, even you can afford to buy a RM1 million terrace house.

"It's just that it is a bungalow in a kampung, which is why it looks big," Zuraida told Malaysiakini.

Meanwhile, Rafizi said a disciplinary probe on Adam would only be carried out if there was a complaint against him.

"The standard operating procedure is if there is a disciplinary report against him then the disciplinary board will probe it independently," he said.

Asked if there should be a probe, Rafizi said the best route to go on was still for Adam to declare his assets.
