Penang police deny second Glugor shooting

Penang police refuted allegations that another shooting incident occurred today in the same area a businesswoman was shot dead in Taman Pekaka 1, Glugor in George Town on Tuesday.

Penang CID chief SAC Zainol Samah said there was no shooting case in the state today and postings disseminated widely via Facebook and WhatsApp were not true.

He said the presence of a team of police at the incident site was to conduct investigations on the killing of the 49-year-old businesswoman.

"We have to inspect the incident scene to complete the investigations, so do not make any speculation," he said when contacted by Bernama in George Town today.

In the 5.45pm incident, Ruby Lee Poh Ai, 49, who was driving a BMW alone, was approached by a two men on a motorcycle who fired more than 10 shots at her.

Ruby, who was in the shipping logistics business, was shot through the driver seat window and six of the 10 shots struck the victim.

In this regard, Zainol said the case was still under investigation and any latest development would be announced via the media from time to time.

He also requested the cooperation of the media especially media portal to refrain from twisting facts or making any speculations on the case as it would hamper investigations.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
