The People's Alternative Party (PAP) today confirmed that they will contest in all parliamentary and state constituencies in Penang in the 14th general election (GE14).

Its president, Zulkifli Mohd Noor, said the multi-racial party decided to contest for all seats in the state as it felt that the DAP-led state government had failed to address, let alone to solve the problems faced by the people.

"We are prepared to contest for 40 state seats and 13 parliamentary seats in Penang in the GE14. I am also ready to contest against Lim Kit Siang if the DAP adviser decided to contest for a parliamentary seat in Penang," he told reporters in George Town today.

PAP, which is a splinter group of DAP, was formed on Oct 30, 2015.

Zulkifli, who is also former DAP vice-chairperson, also rapped the Penang government for its failure to solve flood woes in the state even after being in power for almost 10 years.

"After almost 10 years, they kept saying that they need a couple more years to solve the flood woes in Penang. Same excuse every time," he said.

Last Saturday, more than 10 areas in Penang were inundated by floods, including Lorong Batu Lanchang, Jalan P Ramlee, Sungai Pinang, Jalan Taman Free School, Jalan Bukit Relau, Sungai Ara, Paya Terubong, Greenlane, Jalan Masjid Negeri, Sungai Nibong, Bukit Jambul and Farlim.
