Tuan Ibrahim: We will not join Harapan, full stop!
"PAS will never be with Pakatan Harapan. Full stop".
That is the view of PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, in stressing that his party will not cooperate with DAP or PAS splinter party Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).
This decision was further cemented by DAP's and Amanah's alleged objection towards PAS' Islamic agenda and efforts to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965.
"PAS will never be with Pakatan Harapan. Full stop."
"This was clear in Parliament on April 6, when (the PAS) president and secretary-general tabled the motion (to amend the Act)," said Tuan Ibrahim.
DAP's and Amanah's response, said Tuan Ibrahim, had vindicated PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, who accused one party of trying to suppress PAS' right to table the motion, while the other was not brave enough to do the same.
He also accused detractors of making various allegations to divert attention from PAS' efforts and pitting the party's leaders against one another.
"But this outdated strategy will not succeed because PAS today is more mature following the split in 2015."
He urged those who believe there were wrongdoings in PAS to report to the authorities, while promising that his party would cooperate with investigators.
Although Tuan Ibrahim did not name anyone, he appeared to be responding to PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli, who recently claimed that someone close to PAS had received funds originating from 1MDB.
There are increasing momentum among PAS grassroots for the party to review ties with PKR. A decision is expected at the PAS muktamar later this month.
