Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has unveiled a new development agenda dubbed the Bumiputera Wellbeing Transformation - or Transformasi Kesejahteraan Bumiputera (TKB) in Malay.

Najib said the TKB is more holistic that previous bumiputera development agendas, which focused solely on economic development.

"TKB completely covers aspects of wellbeing, including education, health, social and culture, in a comfortable environment, as well as lifting bumiputera stature to greater heights," the premier said at the TKB launch in Kuala Lumpur today.

Speaking to 1,500 people at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Najib said the TKB was a continuation of the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Roadmap (BETR) which was introduced in 2011.

He said as a result of continuous government efforts, the average bumiputera household income has risen 53 percent from RM3,624 in 2009, to RM5,548 in 2014.

The government he said, will continue championing the bumiputeras.

"Don't fret and be worried, because for as long as there is life in this body, we will champion the TKB agenda forever," he said.

However Najib said the government also looks after all Malaysians.

"We will continue championing the interests of all layers of Malaysian society, in the interest of peace, stability, and prosperity," he said.
