MUKTAMAR | A PAS ulama wing delegate has explained that the Islamic party is not on the warpath against DAP because the latter consists of non-Muslims.

Selangor delegate Nik Bakri Nik Mat said PAS has never hated non-Muslims, but is against all, irrespective of faith, who wrong the people.

"We are not at odds with DAP because they are non-Muslims, but because DAP has acted against Muslims by waging war against PAS' struggle (to uphold matters related to Islam)," he added.

He said the situation was similar with regard to PAS' stand on its splinter party and DAP ally, Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

"We also don't hate Umno just because they are Umno, but because we despise their oppression of the people," he told the wing's muktamar or annual meet in Alor Star, Kedah, this afternoon.

PKR helped Amanah

As for PKR, Nik Bakri said in light of the numerous contradictions, the central ulama leadership should issue a guideline related to PAS' political ties with PKR.

"For us, we have made a decision (to sever ties with PKR), but we do not wish to act in haste before the current leaders (make a decision).

"We do not want to be hasty, but we need a stand from the central PAS ulama," he added.

Nik Bakri also cited several incidents in Selangor, which he said led the grassroots to decide on ending the political cooperation with PKR.

Among them, he claimed during the Sungai Besar by-election in June last year, PKR was backing Amanah, when the latter was battling against PAS for the parliament seat.

"PKR was clearly backing Amanah during the Sungai Besar by-election.

"So we were at a crossroad, how do we continue (cooperating with PKR) when in front of us, they openly sided with our rival," he added.
