MUKTAMAR | PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has warned delegates attending the party's 63rd muktamar not to raise matters that could hurt the party ahead of the general election.

This was revealed by PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan after a closed-door meeting last night with party delegates in Alor Setar, Kedah, where the muktamar is being held.

"(Hadi) warned that in the (upcoming) debates (on Saturday and Sunday) not to raise matters that do not benefit PAS as we will be facing the 14th general election.

"That is an order and it can't be questioned," Takiyuddin told reporters last night.

His remarks come after PAS' Ulama and Youth wings passed motions to sever ties with PKR.

Delegates had attacked PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and vice-president Rafizi Ramli, while accusing its coalition partner of not being wholehearted in strengthening Islam in Selangor.

One delegate cited how PKR allowed a concert by US pop singer Selena Gomez to be held in Selangor as an example of the party was not committed to upholding Islam.

Whether or not the divorce between PAS and PKR will be final, however, is ultimately up to PAS' syura council.

Despite the attacks, PKR vice-president Shaharuddin Badaruddin showed up at the muktamar today, sitting next to PAS information chief Nasrudin Hassan as one of the party's invited guest.

Today will see delegates debating the party’s annual report, while debate on Hadi's speech will be held tomorrow.

Delegates will also be voting for PAS' three vice-president posts, and the party's central committee today.

There are four candidates for the vice-president posts, namely incumbents Iskandar Ab Samad, Idris Ahmad, and Nik Amar Abdullah, as well as challenger Nasrudin.
