MUKTAMAR | PAS has introduced an e-voting system for its party elections at the 63rd muktamar in Alor Setar, Kedah.

A total of 30 computers have been set up at the muktamar to facilitate the voting process, which PAS said would eliminate the possibility of spoiled votes.

This is because the system prevents delegates from casting more than the prerequisite number of votes.

Thus in the vote for the three vice presidencies, delegates can only cast three ballots instead of four.

The same goes for the 18 places on PAS' central committee.

Once a delegate completes voting, the system will automatically update the results, while a physical sheet is also printed out for the delegates to place into a ballot box.

The results for the party elections are expected to be announced on Monday.

There are four candidates for the vice president posts: incumbents Iskandar Ab Samad, Idris Ahmad, and Nik Amar Abdullah, and challenger Nasrudin Hassan.

A total of 26 candidates, including former PAS Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Mat, are vying for a spot on the central committee.

The posts of party president and deputy president were won uncontested, by Abdul Hadi Awang and Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man respectively.
