PAS has not entered into an alliance with BN and the two parties will slug it out during the upcoming election, said PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
"We are fighting BN and not allying ourselves with them. Our president has said this, so has the syura council.
"In fact, almost 90 percent of seats which PAS is contesting will be against BN," he said.
Tuan Ibrahim did not elaborate on who their opponents would be for the other 10 percent. BN traditionally contests all seats in every election.
He said this in response to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who alleged that PAS was now an official component party of BN.
Tuan Ibrahim said maybe Mahathir made that statement due to his disappointment.
"I think he (Mahathir) is disappointed that PAS did not join Pakatan Harapan," he said.
When Tuan Ibrahim was asked about the Islamist party who is now seen to be working with "small" parties like Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia (Ikatan) and Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM), he said he believed PAS is on the right track.
He explained that the most important thing is that PAS has strong party machinery to face the upcoming general election.
"The rakyat's confidence depends on our strength. PAS has party officers as its core and our machinery is the best.
"We are confident that we are on the right track to provide hope for the people," Tuan Ibrahim said.
