Dr M strikes back at Zahid; BN lawmaker questions 1MDB probe

KINI ROUNDUP | Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

Dr M strikes back at Zahid

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad alleged that Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had sought his support in the past to remove Najib Abdul Razak as premier.

Mahathir's revelation was in apparent retaliation against Zahid for taking a dig at his supposed Indian parentage and disclosing his identity card details at an Umno gathering. Mahathir had branded Zahid a "liar" over the claim.

Former Umno leader Khairuddin Abu Hassan, an ally of Mahathir, lodged a police report against Zahid for allegedly revealing Mahathir's personal data in violation of the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).

EC told to act over Umno leader's shifting of voters

Bersih urged the Election Commission (EC) to act against Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos’ alleged admission of shifting voters in Sekinchan.

Azalina told Parliament that there will be no change in the EC's current structure, in response to a question on whether the commission will be made independent and placed under Parliament.

Kluang MP Liew Chin Tong claimed the "grand reconciliation" between jailed opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim and Mahathir can contribute up to 10 parliamentary seats each in Johor, Kedah and Sabah for the opposition.

DAP legal bureau chief Gobind Singh Deo accused the Registrar of Societies (ROS) of dragging its feet over DAP's re-election.
