Gerakan has been reduced to a party of "Three Stooges" which only speaks on trivial matters said DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang.

The stooges Lim said, were Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong, party Penang chief Teng Chang Yeow, and vice-president Dominic Lau.

Picking on Mah, the DAP veteran said the Gerakan president had "created political history by issuing a challenge, not on behalf of himself, but on behalf of another, when he challenged me to contest against Teng in the 14th general election (GE14)."

Last Tuesday, Teng challenged Lim to abandon the Gelang Patah seat and fight him in Penang instead.

Mah then reiterated Teng's challenge last Saturday, saying that for the purpose of fighting Lim, they would cancel plans to retire the Penang Gerakan chief.

Lim, however, said today that Teng had been on a losing streak since being ousted in 2008, and was afraid of returning to the Padang Kota seat he once held.

"My advice to Teng remains the same: he cannot be an effective commander-in-chief of Penang BN in GE14 if he is a coward, as no BN candidate in Penang would have respect for him.

"Teng should announce that he will return to Padang Kota where he had been assemblyperson for three terms from 1995 to 2008 to break the Gerakan 'egg' in the Penang State Assembly for two terms in the forthcoming GE14.

"If Teng dares not return to Padang Kota to fight Penang DAP chief Chow Kon Yeow, he should just call it a day in Gerakan politics," Lim said.

He then turned his sights on Lau, deriding the latter's criticism of Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming for making a joke about 1MDB-linked businessperson Jho Low winning a gold medal at the SEA Games in the category of "running away with money."

Lau said this was malicious and had tainted the SEA Games, but Lim thought otherwise.

"Different views have been expressed about the propriety of Nga’s use of the SEA Games in his jibe against Jho Low and 1MDB, but no one in his right senses would accuse Nga of linking the 1MDB scandal to the SEA Games," Lim said.

He then derided Gerakan for not saying a word about the 1MDB scandal.

"If Gerakan leaders dare not speak up on the great rights and wrongs in Malaysia, they should not discourage or obstruct Malaysians who dare to speak up for the country," he added.
