A survey by Malay daily Sinar Harian has shown that Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali has a 55 percent approval rate.

Of the 550 respondents surveyed, 37 percent have no confidence in Azmin and want him replaced.

According to the daily, respondents believed that Azmin is a "clever" politician with credibility, who serves Selangorians and spends less time politicking.

The majority of respondents (54 percent) believe that the Azmin administration is a stable one, with 41 percent disagreeing.

The majority of the Azmin backers are from Shah Alam, Klang, Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya.

Among others, voters were happy with the state government's free water scheme, the SmartState initiative, the free bus scheme, free WiFi scheme, waste management efforts and the "Peduli Rakyat" schemes.

The daily does not state who was commissioned to conduct the survey nor the methodology involved.

Azmin, 53, assumed office on Sept 23, 2014, and is now in his third year in office.

Soon after assuming office, Azmin had to hold together a government comprising PKR, PAS and DAP, although the relationship between the latter two had soured in 2015.

Azmin will lead the new Selangor Pakatan Harapan coalition, sans PAS, into the next general election.
