MACC's debut in theatre well received, says its chief
The first ever theatre run staged by the MACC is well received, said its chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad.
"I was made to understand the play received an extraordinary response," he said after attending a preview of the play called "Bahara Emas" today.
The play, which features the fall of the Malacca Sultanate in 1511 to the Portuguese, will take place from Oct 19 to Oct 22 at the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), Kuala Lumpur.
Siti Rohayah Attan, the play's producer, announced during the preview event today that seats for the play were 95 percent booked.
The anti-graft agency is expecting some 2,400 people will attend the play throughout its screening...

Speaking to reporters later, Dzulkifli said the reason the storyline was chosen for the play was to highlight how a country or civilisation, no matter how mighty, can be destroyed by corruption and slander.
Well-known artists, such as Jalaluddin Hassan, Esma Daniel, Farahdhiya Amir, Izzue Islam, will be among those performing at the play produced by CTRA Production, in collaboration with DBP, Istana Budaya dan Akademi Seni Budaya, and Warisan Kebangsaan (Aswara).
Free tickets to the play will be given to members of the public who become members of Sahabat Gerakan Revolusi Anti Rasuah (GERAH), a support group for MACC.
According to Dzulkifli, "Bahara Emas" could be played in different states in the peninsula, given MACC has the funding. He also did not discount the possibility of coming out with more "attractive stories" for future plays, to spread the message of loathing corruption.
