Two top Sabah Umno Youth leaders, as well as the Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) Youth chief, have been remanded for five days.

Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus approved the five-day remand under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act.

Umno Youth information chief Jamawi Jaafar, who is also Tenom Umno Youth chief, and Warisan Youth chief Mohd Azis Jamman were detained at the Sabah MACC headquarters in Kota Kinabalu yesterday.

The prosecution had requested a seven-day remand order but was only granted with five days.

The third person, Tawau Umno Youth chief Ariffin Kassim, was detained at the graft buster's office in Tawau.

Mohd Azis (photo) was brought out from the Kota Kinabalu Magistrate's Court clad in MACC's orange lock-up shirt and managed to flash the Warisan sign with his fingers despite being handcuffed.

Similarly clad in the lock-up shirt, Jamawi followed soon after, with Ariffin following suit from behind. Unlike the two, Ariffin tried to hide his face with a cap and ducked his head from photographers.

Some 300 Warisan supporters have been waiting at the court complex since morning today in solidarity with Mohd Azis and Warisan vice-president Peter Anthony.

Meanwhile, Peter's remand order has been extended for a further three days.

"They (the MACC) requested further seven days but (the court) only allowed three days in view of my client's medical condition," Peter's lead counsel Martin Tommy Durasim told reporters today.

Jamawi is currently serving as a special officer at the Communications and Multimedia Ministry.

It is learnt that his arrest was in regard to his tenure as an aide to Warisan president Mohd Shafie Apdal when Shafie was rural and regional development minister.

Jamawi is said to have been transferred to the Communications and Multimedia Ministry after Shafie was axed from the cabinet in July 2015.

Mohd Azis was Semporna Umno Youth chief before he left the party and subsequently joined Warisan.

He is the latest Warisan leader to be arrested in MACC's investigation into funds allegedly misappropriated from projects in Sabah that were supposed to be carried out by the Rural and Regional Development Ministry.

Shafie had helmed the ministry before he was sacked in 2015, during the cabinet reshuffle.

The MACC detained Peter on Thursday night, and he was remanded the next day for a period of five days.
