Sarawakian IS suspect arrested in Pakistan with guns, bullets

A Malaysian suspected of being a member of the terrorist Islamic State group has reportedly been detained at the airport in Karachi, Pakistan after guns and bullets were found in his luggage.

Pakistan's The Express Tribune reported that the man was attempting to board a Malaysian-bound flight when he was nabbed.

The man had four pistols, eight magazines and 70 bullets hidden in his baggage and shoes.

He is reportedly being questioned by security officials.

Meanwhile, Bernama quoted inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun as confirming that a 20-year-old man from Kuching, Sarawak had been detained in Karachi for attempting to smuggle out firearms.

“Based on initial information, we confirm that a Malaysian male had been detained in Pakistan.

“The police will get in touch with the authorities in Pakistan to obtain more information on the matter,” he was quoted as saying.
