The special BN supreme council meeting last night, which lasted over an hour, did not discuss the allocation of seats or the date of the 14th general election.

Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein said that the council only discussed BN's election machinery preparations for the coming election.

"No, (seat allocations and election date) were not discussed at the supreme council meeting.

"No election date was discussed, it was just on general preparations," Hishammuddin told reporters after the meeting last night.

Hishammuddin added the meeting, which was attended by representatives of all BN component parties, went well.

It was earlier reported last night's meeting would discuss winnable candidates and those well-liked by the people at the grassroots level.

The meeting started at 9pm after BN launched its official website TheRakyat.com to publicise its plans and promises for the country over the next five years.

Meanwhile, MCA president Liow Tiong Lai (photo) confirmed that his party has submitted its list of candidates for the general election.

"What's important is unity among all component parties.

"The list of candidates has been given to the prime minister. All component parties have submitted theirs.

“The list has been finalised, so it's now up to the prime minister," he added.
