A man caught in a viral video showing him with a bloodied head after being beaten up by road users denied he was involved in a hit and run.

Instead, Wong Yeou Ming (right in photo), who received 15 stitches to his head, claimed it was a case of road bullying.

He explained that at around 7pm last Friday, while driving home to Puchong, one of two motorcyclists had knocked on his car and showed him an obscene gesture.

Wong claimed he did not know why what he had done to offend the two motorcyclists, and reciprocated with an obscene gesture of his own, which angered them.

The motorcyclists then chased and attacked his vehicle, claimed Wong.

"I want to clarify that I did not hit the person on purpose, and ran away but I was attacked by two thugs.

"I was afraid and tried to escape from them," he told a press conference in Puchong today.

Wong was accompanied by DAP's Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng (second from left in photo).

While trying to escape, Wong said he accidentally hit one of the motorcyclists that were pursuing him.

Due to the circumstances, Wong said he did not stop and wanted to go direct to a nearby police station.

However, he was caught in traffic congestion, prompting someone to smash his window, drag him out and a mob proceeded to beat him up and rob him.

Wong said he lost around RM3,000, including RM600 in cash.

"I urge everyone not to listen to one-sided information. Also, we should not use violence to solve problems and leave it to the police," he said.

Wong said his family had to temporarily stay at a friend's house as his MyKad, which had his home address, was also stolen when he was beaten up.

Last Sunday, Subang Jaya OCPD Mohammad Azlin Sadari was quoted by The Star as saying that Wong had accidentally hit a motorcyclist who suffered a broken rib and was sent to Serdang Hospital.

He added that police was also scrutinising the video of Wong being beaten up to identify his assailants.

Wong also said today that the police informed him that one of the motorcyclists was arrested after his statement was recorded, and that he has a prior criminal record.
