The friendly-fire within Selangor Pakatan Harapan intensified with the state's Amanah chief Izham Hashim launching a broadside on Menteri Besar Mohd Azmin Ali.

Without mincing words, he said Azmin, who is also Selangor Pakatan Harapan chief, is not fit to helm the state.

Izham was responding to the menteri besar's accusation this afternoon that Amanah had lied about seat negotiations in the state and that the PAS splinter party was untrustworthy.

“No such thing (as seat negotiations). He is a joker, I tell you. When did we discuss seats? PKR is the only one discussing seats, no one discussed with them.

“Because those are election (preparation) meetings, we did not discuss seats,” he told Malaysiakini.

"He is not fit to be Selangor menteri besar and Harapan chief, honestly he is not fit.

“He can't even manage simple things," he added, saying Azmin failed to call for a meeting and went to the media instead.

Earlier, Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, insisted that a committee had met four times to discuss seat negotiations and that 80 percent of the seats had been finalised.

However, Selangor DAP chief Tony Pua appeared to be in the dark about this.

"I am not aware that 80 percent of seats have been negotiated because we have never been asked," he told Malaysiakini.

'Election committee does not have mandate'

Izham, however, said DAP, Bersatu, and Amanah have been saying that the election committee is not mandated to discuss seat negotiations.

He also dismissed Azmin’s remark about renaming the election committee to a seat negotiations committee.

He said the federal leadership had requested that every state must have an election committee to prepare for the elections.

“So what we need to do now is form a seat negotiations committee.

“If they want to use the same representatives from PKR from the election committee, fine, but we in the other parties, it is different.

“The people who are going to discuss the seats are from a higher level. The election committee is only for the elections director.

“You cannot use that, it is wrong, because this (seat negotiations) are high-level discussions,” he added.

'This MB never discusses things'

Izham also pointed out that Selangor Amanah had written an official letter to Azmin to discuss the issue of forming a seat negotiations committee but never received an answer.

“The problem with this menteri besar, this chairperson, he never discusses things, he does it on his own. So how can you (Azmin) accuse us of lying? He can always check with DAP,” Izham said.

Previously there had been some confusion over the role of the Selangor Harapan election committee.

PKR had insisted that the committee was supposed to discuss seat negotiations and submit their proposals to the state leadership, while DAP, Amanah and Bersatu wanted the talks to be held by a separate seat allocation committee.

Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad had later said that a special committee had been set up to resolve seat negotiations in Selangor.

Izham said the special committee mentioned by Mahathir probably referred to a federal-level committee.

“This thing cannot be resolved with Azmin there. Only when the federal (leadership) come in, can we resolve this,” he added.
