Selangor Bersatu Youth today claimed a party member has offered enticement for two grassroots leaders to quit the party, a move they say is aimed at weakening the party.

Selangor Bersatu Youth chief Adhif Syan Abdullah said his deputy Anas Akashah Nazri and Sabak Bernam Bersatu Youth chief Saufi Yusof were promised jobs and money to quit.

“They also coaxed them to leave the party, and hold a press conference with them (to announce it).

"Thank goodness my friends were strong-willed and rejected this shameless provocateur,” he said at a press conference today at Bersatu's headquarters in Petaling Jaya.

Also present were Anas and Saufi, who showed proof of the conversation with the said party member making the offer of rewards for holding a press conference.

“He offered to give me money or a job if I held a press conference to malign and weaken Bersatu.

“If he thinks what I have said is a fabrication, I challenge that individual to sue me this coming Tuesday,” Anas said.

When asked if any other members were offered the same enticement, he said at present he was only aware of the two of them.

However, he said, any other member who has received similar offers should be brave enough to come forward to expose the matter.

Previously, the said provocateur had lodged complaints with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) against Bersatu.

Malaysiakini has attempted to contact the said individual about the present allegation, but has not received any response to date.
