The audio clip which purportedly depicts PAS central committee member Nik Abduh Nik Aziz talking about the party receiving funds from Umno has been dismissed as false by fellow central committee member Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali.

Khairuddin (photo above) said there any many out there who sound like PAS leaders.

"It has been denied by Nik Abduh. A lot of people sound like (PAS president) Abdul Hadi Awang and like (former PAS spiritual adviser) Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

"It is not just impersonation, but some people just sound like others.

"That is why, in Islam, audio tidak menjadi satu inti yang kukuh (audio alone cannot be evidence). It can be subjected to tampering, impersonations and other factors," Khairuddin said when contacted.

The widely circulated audio clip ostensibly depicts a person talking about Umno's funding of PAS.

The individual in the clip can be heard stating that the funds were used during the 2016 Sarawak state election, and to finance activities to "topple" DAP.

Last Wednesday, Nik Abduh (photo) denied taking bribes from Umno, and urged those spreading the audio clip to repent.

Khairuddin also insisted that although PAS was a victim of vicious slander, it would not resort to such measures to win votes.

"PAS' position is to continue spreading our message to the people: The country needs change through Islamic policies.

"PAS will not slander any party. That is not our policy," he said.
