GE14 | DAP is set to name its Perak chief and incumbent Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming as the candidate for the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat next week, said several party sources.
Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad is expected to turn up at the announcement to be made at the constituency.
"We were told to prepare for a ceramah slated to be held next week, where the party’s top guns will announce Nga as the candidate," said a Teluk Intan DAP division source.
However, he said the date of the event is not confirmed yet as it depends on Mahathir's schedule.
"It could be March 31 or April 1. We are looking to hold the event at Speedy Field, which can accommodate up to 7,000 people," said the source.
According to him, the party wants Nga to challenge the incumbent Teluk Intan MP and Gerakan minister Mah Siew Keong in a clash of two titans.

Bakri to be announced
A DAP national leader who declined to be named also said party made the decision two days ago.
"It's going to be him (Nga)," he said.
"He is expected to be the fourth candidate announced by the party following Liew Chin Tong (in Ayer Hitam) and Anthony Loke (in Seremban).
"The party will announce Yeoh Bee Yin's candidacy in Bakri this weekend," he added.
Malaysiakini, however, could not get Nga or the DAP leaders to confirm the matter.
DAP won all seven parliamentary seats and 18 state seats they contested in Perak in the 2013 general election, but subsequently lost Teluk Intan by a razor-thin margin, in the 2014 by-election after their MP passed away.
In that poll, Mah defeated DAP's Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud by only 238 majority votes.
On Wednesday, the New Straits Times reported Mah as saying he is confident he could defend the seat, should he be fielded.
