GE14 | Although Parliament is widely anticipated to be dissolved on Friday, Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad is keeping close to his chest which parliamentary seat he intends to contest in the coming general election.
Mahathir had previously narrowed his options to just three seats - Langkawi or Kubang Pasu in Kedah or the Federal Territory of Putrajaya.
Asked today whether he had made up his mind, Mahathir quipped: “Me? It is a secret. National secret.”
He was speaking to reporters at a press conference at the opposition leader's office in Parliament today after chairing a Harapan presidential council meeting earlier.
When asked whether he is concerned that the Registrar of Societies (ROS) had yet to register Harapan, Mahathir said he no longer cared.
“The registration is not coming, but we don't care. Whether it comes or not, we have our plans on how to conduct our party during the election,” he said.
The ROS had deferred Harapan’s registration, claiming that one of its component parties - Bersatu - had yet to submit some of its registration documents.
Bersatu claims it submitted the documents on March 29.
To a question on whether Harapan has decided which component party’s logo to use as a common logo in the event Harapan’s registration falls through, Mahathir said there is no decision on the matter yet.
“We will announce later,” he said.
