GE14 | Parti Warisan Sabah is only interested in working with relevant parties in the state, the party's vice-president Junz Wong said.

His response comes after questions were raised on the opposition pact in Sabah led by Warisan, which does not include the Pakatan Harapan component party Amanah.

However, Wong insisted that the pact was not one between Warisan and Harapan.

"We do not need Harapan in Sabah, but we work at the national level with them to help them defeat BN.

"In Sabah, we work with Harapan components.

"In Sabah, those that are still relevant are PKR and the DAP," Wong told Malaysiakini.

Asked whether there were never any plans to include Amanah, Wong reiterated the relevance factor.

Political realities in Sabah, he added, are also different from that in the peninsula.

"We are not here this time around to take care of anybody's feelings, we want to win the elections.

"We are not prepared to give you one or two seats because you are here or there," said the Likas assemblyperson.

Warisan president Mohd Shafie Apdal announced at the party's inaugural congress on Monday that the party has sealed an electoral pact with the DAP and PKR.

Sabah Amanah chief Hamzah Abdullah confirmed that Amanah was never part of the discussions among the other three parties.

"Maybe because we are a small party, I don't know. But we've heard talks asking Amanah not to contest in Sabah.

"We never received any invitation for seat negotiations with Warisan."

'Harapan should have led talks'

However, Hamzah said, Amanah will field candidates in the Kalabakan and Batu Sapi parliamentary seats, as well as in the Merotai and Bugaya state seats.

This, he said, was already agreed upon by the Sabah Harapan presidential council.

This was also confirmed by Sabah DAP chief Stephen Wong.

"But I don't know how it is in the negotiations with Warisan.

"I don't know whether Amanah is in or not, but we should be in, because we are part and parcel of Harapan.

Wong is of the opinion that the Harapan platform should have been used in the discussions with Warisan.

"During our Harapan meeting, I mentioned that we should use Harapan as a whole to discuss. But (Sabah Harapan chief) Christina (Liew) thinks otherwise."

Malaysiakini has contacted Liew and is awaiting her response on the matter.

Meanwhile, asked whether he had voiced his concerns to Shafie, Wong said there was no point for him to do so.

"Because if we want to use the Harapan platform, we should discuss and agree among ourselves.

"I cannot talk to Warisan and say you should discuss with Harapan. It's not the right way," Wong said.
