GE14 | Though Ummi Hafilda was spotted attending a Pakatan Harapan event which was also attended by her brother Mohamed Azmin Ali, the other brother, controversial celebrity Azwan Ali, continues to differ from his siblings.

Azwan described Ummi’s presence at the Harapan programme to support Dr Mahathir Mohamad as “a desperate move” meant to garner cheap publicity as the 14th general election (GE14) nears.

Not only that, Azwan insisted, he no longer has any family ties with these two siblings of his.

“My spontaneous answer is, who is Ummi Hafilda? I hope she watches this video recording. Who are you who wants attention, seeking publicity? Who are you?

“Do you want me to reveal all your terrible attitude to the media? Who are you talking about in the family? You should know (you are talking about) someone who is the Selangor Menteri Besar.

“These are all the behaviour of those who are desperate with GE14 coming, so they are all bulls**t,” Azwan said when met by Malaysiakini last night.

Last Sunday, Ummi, who was previously a vocal critic of PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, made a surprise appearance at a Bersatu fundraising event.

Ummi (second from left, above) said she attended the event because she is loyal to Mahathir’s leadership, who she described as the best prime minister in the country.

She even offered to do a nationwide roadshow to persuade the people against negative perception of the former prime minister, while insisting that she would never speak for Umno again.

Azmin, who is the caretaker Selangor Menteri Besar, said he welcomed support from all parties, including from his sister.

'The rakyat can judge for themselves'

However, Azwan said Ummi is now cornered into garnering support for Harapan as she has to rely on Mahathir.

“She’s trapped. She does not have any capital and she is forced because of this one leader, I don’t want to say. I know the rakyat can judge for themselves. I also have nothing to do with the identity of this senile old leader.

“I see their deep vengeance to snatch power, not for the rakyat, but for the sake of their so-called great reputation.

“There are many great opposition leaders, but not those two (Azmin and Ummi). I know them because they are my siblings.

“Of course I know them because we are of the same blood, but formerly, yeah. I am ashamed to admit those two as my siblings,” Azwan said.

He did not elaborate on what he meant by “trapped”.

Azwan then urged Malaysians not to support Azmin and Ummi.

“Avoid these two. You can vote for whichever opposition leader, I do not mind. It is your right. But don’t vote for these two.

“I say this not because I support Najib and BN, but those two are stupid. So stop voting for them.

“They are desperate for power and only stupid people will vote for them,” he said.

The fallout among the three family members has involved a police report lodged by Azwan, in which he claimed Azmin was involved in a sex scandal, which was initially alleged by a blog.

Azwan has also lodged a report with the MACC claiming that Azmin was involved in corruption.

Asked about these two matters, Azwan said no action has been taken against Azmin till now.
