GE14 | DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng today announced incumbent Senai assemblyperson Wong Shu Qi as Pakatan Harapan's candidate for the Kluang parliamentary seat.

Wong will replace Liew Chin Tong, who will contest the Ayer Hitam parliamentary constituency.

Liew will mount a challenge against the three-term incumbent and MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong.

"For Kluang, it is a bit difficult (to decide on the new candidate) because it is the state chief's seat.

"We decided to field a woman candidate - Wong Shu Qi," he told a 2,500-strong crowd which responded with thunderous applause.

Liew is also the Johor DAP chief.

At the event in Kluang today, Lim also announced former Bersih activist Chew Chong Sin as the party candidate for Mengkibol, a state seat within Kluang.

Chew is a Kluang native who had helped organised Bersih-related activities in Shanghai.
