S'gor BN pledges to return land to Ijok settlers if it wins GE14

GE14 | Selangor BN has promised to return the remaining 404 hectares of land to settlers in Ijok, Kuala Selangor should the coalition manage to wrest the state in the 14th general election.

Incumbent Permatang state assemblyperson Sulaiman Razak said the Selangor BN would look at every aspect of the law to enable the settlers to regain their land which they claimed had been seized by the state government.

“I was informed that the land is now worth approximately RM750 million... If we (BN) take over the administration (in Selangor) we will look at all legal aspects. If there is still a room to return the land to the settlers from the legal point of view, we will do so,” he said.

Sulaiman told this to reporters after attending a briefing over the disputed land to about 100 settlers in Tanjong Karang today.

The briefing was presented by lawyer Kamarudin Ahmad, who is also representing the settlers.

Commenting further, Sulaiman urged any settler whose land had been involved in the dispute to come forward to exercise their rights.

“We want all of them to unite and unanimously agree to take this issue to court. The case will be strong enough to be heard in the court if more people (come forward).

“If there is evidence of the land being taken by the state government, please present the proof,” he said.

Prior to this, the sale of 880 hectares of Ijok land to a developer at the price of RM1.18 billion had stirred controversy and was being questioned by various parties, including the issue of the remaining land which was now allegedly owned by the state government.
