GE14 | Selangor BN has dropped two of its 11 incumbent assemblypersons from its list of candidates for the coming 14th general election.
For Jeram, BN dropped Amiruddin Setro in favour of Zahar Azlan Ariffin, 54, while, while incumbent Sungai Panjang representative Budiman Mohd Zohdi will be fielded as a parliamentary candidate this time around.
Amiruddin's fate has already been the subject of speculation in recent weeks.
As for Budiman, he will be tasked with defending his Sungai Besar parliamentary seat, which he won in a by-election.
Selangor BN chief Noh Omar said Amiruddin was removed to make way for a new face.
"Amiruddin is someone who has the people at heart, but he has been the Jeram assemblyperson for three terms.
"Because of this, we want to bring in a new face, who has served Kuala Selangor for a long time," Noh told reporters after announcing the Selangor BN's candidates today.
Caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's aide, Isham Jalil, was not in the Selangor BN's list of candidates.
There had been speculation earlier that Isham would be fielded for the Paya Jaras state seat. Instead, the opportunity to be BN's Paya Jaras candidate went to Selangor Umno information chief Zein Isma Ismail.
Noh did not announce who would be Selangor BN's candidate for menteri besar, stressing that the announcement would only be made if BN wins.
"We don't want to be like PKR and think that it is all up to us by plotting something like the 'Kajang Move' just so we can put who we want as the MB," he said.
Meanwhile, two of MCA president Liow Tiong Lai's aides have been confirmed as Selangor BN candidates.
They are Leong Kim Soon and Kang Meng Fuat, who are BN's candidates for the Ampang and Selayang parliamentary seats respectively.
