GE14 | Bersatu members contesting as independent candidates in the 14th general election will be sacked from the party, president Muhyiddin Yassin has said.

According to Muhyddin, this was provided for in the Bersatu constitution where members who contested without the party’s permission could be sacked.

"This is something that cannot be allowed because they have betrayed the party’s struggle, breached discipline .

“More so, they have done something that creates problems to other component parties,” he told reporters after a ceramah in Bakri last night.

Muhyiddin was asked on about Hang Tuan Jaya Bersatu vice-chief Kamarolzaman Mohd Jidi contesting as an independent candidate for the Ayer Molek state seat.

Kamarolzaman claimed he was disappointed in not being fielded as a candidate in GE14, despite being promised by the party leadership.

A PKR candidate was fielded to contest for the Ayer Molek seat, which is in the Hang Tuah Jaya parliamentary constituency.

Kamarolzaman was at the nomination centre at the Malacca International Trade Centre to submit his papers and was announced by the returning officer as one of the contenders for the Ayer Molek state seat.

He will be challenged by Rahmad Mariman (BN), Jantan Abdullah (PAS) and Farhan Ibrahim@Alias (PKR).
