GE14 | Election Commission chairperson Mohd Hisham Abdullah today apologised to voters who received their postal votes late.

The matter, he added, would be investigated.

"The EC has received complaints of late delivery of postal votes and we apologise for it. We will also investigate this," Hashim said at a press conference in Putrajaya.

A number of Malaysians residing overseas have complained about receiving their ballot papers late.

Even Bersih London organised a protest outside the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board premises near Trafalgar Square, with some 30 people protesting the late delivery of the ballot papers.

Former Malaysiakini journalist Aidila Razak also penned a piece about her receiving the ballot paper only yesterday and of having to rely upon a good samaritan to send it back home via a flight from Heathrow Airport, due to arrive at KLIA this afternoon.

Hashim also said the EC would investigate claims that its officers turned away voters who were said to be not properly attired, wearing shorts or skirts.

He said the commission had issued a press statement that people wearing any political party logo would not be allowed into the voting area.

"So those attired with a political party logo or vest, or any other such attire, would not be allowed in. As at 11.59pm last night, there was no more campaigning," the EC chief added.
