The MACC has reiterated that slain deputy public prosecutor Kevin Morais was not involved in the graftbuster's 1MDB investigations.

"As far as I know Morais had nothing to do with 1MDB," MACC chief Mohd Shukri Abdull said during a press conference at MACC's headquarters in Putrajaya today.

He said Morais had instead been working with MACC on a corruption case involving the supply of medicine to an army hospital.

Morais was murdered in September 2015. He was reported missing on Sept 4 and his remains were found stuffed into a concrete-filled drum two weeks later, on Sept 16.

Last year, Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown claimed that she had received a draft of an alleged charge sheet against former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak from Morais prior to his murder.

Rewcastle-Brown made the claim in her defence statement on Oct 11 with regard to a defamation suit filed against her in the United Kingdom by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
