Although former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak said can spend more time with his family this Hari Raya unlike previously, he feels sad that social media is now his only way to reach out to the rakyat.

“This Hari Raya has been different, I have more time to spend with my family.

“But I feel sad that there are fewer channels for me to connect with the rakyat except through social media.

“Salam Aidilfitri, this is my simple message,” he said in posting on Twitter today.

Najib was ousted as prime minister when BN suffered a shocking defeat at the 14th general election (GE14) on May 9.

Following this, he was ousted as Umno and BN president.

Najib has always been active on social media, posting regularly on his Twitter and Facebook accounts as well as on his blog.

His social media activity has increased since GE14 with postings criticising the new Pakatan Harapan government’s policies and declarations.

Najib held a Hari Raya open house at his residence in Pekan, Pahang yesterday, which saw about 500 people attending.

In a Facebook post during the event, he called on political rivals to forgive each other in the spirit of Aidilfitri.
