The official results of the Umno wings elections will be announced at 5pm today, said party executive secretary Ab Rauf Yusof.

As of 12.30am, some divisions were still holding meetings and counting ballots.

This included one division in Perlis, Kedah (6), Perak (6), Selangor (6), Wilayah Persekutuan (10), Negeri Sembilan (4), Melaka (2), Johor (1), Pahang (6), Terengganu (2), Kelantan (6) and Sabah (6).

"Any results that come out on social media are not the official results," Ab Rauf said at a press conference late last night.

Unofficial results have been streaming in since yesterday evening.

The preliminary tally placed Shahril Hamdan in a winning position for the Umno Youth vice-chief post, ahead of Segamat youth chief Bastien Onn.

Shahril is believed to be in Umno presidential candidate Khairy Jamaluddin's camp, while Bastien is one of the key supporters of veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah's bid for the presidency.

Tengku Razaleigh, Khairy, and former deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi are the three top contenders for the post.

The contest for top national Umno leadership posts will be held on June 30.
