More GLC senior officers to face the sack, Perak MB says

Several more senior officers of GLCs in Perak who were appointed by the previous administration will be sacked as their positions are not beneficial to the organisation.

However, Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the transfer of senior officers cannot be done easily as some are bound by contracts.

He said many GLCs in the state had too many employees including junior staff, and their services were not essential.

“ I have said before that there are too many junior staff who are not needed, but a decision cannot be made hastily because we understand that if for instance, we sack a driver, it is not only him that is without income but also his family.

“We (the state government) will look into how to minimise the organisation’s expenses,” he said.

Faizal was speaking to reporters after receiving a  contribution of RM500,000 from the Unisem Group for Tabung Harapan Malaysia at his office here today.

He said Perak Pakatan Harapan would keep its word made in the manifesto during the 14th general election that all audits of GLCs would be tabled in the state assembly.

Last Sunday, Faizal said the state government had terminated the services of seven executive officers in a GLC for overspending.
