Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said his party will not emulate Pakatan Harapan's ways when it was the opposition, claiming that it had relied on slander in the past.
Asyraf, after chairing his first Umno Youth exco meeting since winning in the party election, claimed the previous opposition had been an emotional one that was not grounded in facts.
"Our approach (as the new opposition) focusses on knowledge and facts. Not like the previous opposition which was based on slander and emotion.
"There will not be dirty politics but a harmonious one, based on facts and the interest of the people and nation.
"We are prepared to have a dialogue with any quarters who share the same opinion with us," he told a press conference at the Umno headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Asyraf said Umno Youth will play a check-and-balance role against Harapan as the new governing coalition was not "a saint".
"It has not even been 100 days and they (new government) had touched on a number of fundamental issues such as religion, the constitution and governance, which all the more requires Umno Youth to play the role of representing the people's voice," he said.
Asyraf last month won the contest for Umno Youth chief, defeating his closest rival Khairul Azwan Harun.
