The last accused in deputy public prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais’s murder trial expressed his fear to the High Court in Kuala Lumpur that he would be dead after today's trial.
"After I give this testimony, I don't know if I will be dead or alive. This might be my last testimony," S Ravi Chanderan said to judge Justice Azman Abdullah, without divulging further.
Ravi requested further discussion with the judge regarding his concerns before the examination-in-chief by his lawyer V Rajehgopal, but was declined.
The judge then told Ravi to speak to his lawyer if he had any problems.
Ravi, who is also the seventh accused, told the court that Jay (real name G Gunasekaran, the second accused who has been released after serving a jail sentence) had brought him to an apartment located along Jalan Dutamas in Segambut, to "collect a payment from someone", on Sept 3, 2015.
Ravi said they waited for a few minutes near the apartment's guardhouse before leaving the area, as the person that they had been waiting for failed to show up.
R Dinishwaran, AK Thinesh Kumar, M Vishwanath, S Nimalan, Ravi, and army colonel Dr R Kunaseegaran, pleaded not guilty to the charge of killing Morais on the way from Jalan Dutamas 1, Sentul to 1 Jalan USJ 1 / 6D, Subang Jaya, between 7am and 8pm, on Sept 4, 2015.
They face the gallows if found guilty under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read with Section 34.
They were represented by lawyer Rajehgopal, except for Kunaseegaran who was represented by lawyer Sivananthan. The prosecution was led by DPP Saiful Edris Zainuddin.
The trial before Justice Azman continues tomorrow.
