Anwar is finally PKR president

Anwar Ibrahim is finally the PKR president, almost two decades after his incarceration inspired the creation of the Parti Keadilan Nasional which later merged with Parti Rakyat Malaysia to become PKR.

While Anwar won unopposed, all other positions will see a contest. PKR Youth chief candidate Afif Bahardin touts the "Triple A" team, namely Anwar, incumbent PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and himself.

The first salvo of the PKR election was fired after several Selangor Wanita PKR leaders took aim at Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh, who is contesting for the position of Wanita chief, for suggesting that the wing had become a 'yes-man'.

Meanwhile, Selangor Menteri Besar Amiruddin Shaari quashed speculation that he will be going for a PKR vice-president position, choosing instead to contest for a central leadership council position.

Najib told to prove Arul's RM10m salary

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng asked former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak to prove his statement that former 1MDB chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy's previous salary was really double of what he got at the state-owned fund.

Lebanese jeweller Samer Halimeh said he developed his relationship with Rosmah Mansor, the ex-prime minister's wife, through a social event in Belgravia and had since supplied diamond jewellery for various events that she had attended.

Bersatu Youth lodged a police report against former Malaysian External Intelligence Organisation (MEIO) director-general Hasanah Abdul Hamid over a letter she penned to the US Central Intelligence Agency asking for support for then prime minister Najib Abdul Razak before the 14th general election.

'PAS members unwilling to vote BN'

PAS Youth vice-chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said his party had staked its reputation by urging supporters to vote for Umno in the Sungai Kandis by-election but it appeared that many PAS members were unwilling to do so.

Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa said Umno and PAS can continue to cooperate in future, even though the Sungai Kandis by-election result was not favourable.

DAP's Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang said the Sungai Kandis by-election result was a slap in the faces of Najib and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
